Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, now officially proclaimed Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, takes place in April. It celebrates the culture, traditions, and history of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States.

Staff Sgt. Kaimi Kawai, an information management specialist, 24th Detachment, 1101st U.S. Army Hawaii Garrison Support Unit, attempts to perform a hula dance with dancers from the Dizanne Productions dance company during an Asian-Pacific American Heritage month celebration.

Happy Anniversary Chapter 313.

March 15, 2008, Chapter 313’s petition for Charter was approved and signed by KWVA National President Louis T. Dechert and National Secretary Frank E. Cohee Jr. On April 13, 2008 at a special meeting of the Chapter, National President Dechert presented the Charter to Chapter 313 Commander Billy Scott with 16 of the 26 members present. This year marks the 10th Anniversary of the Chapter, which will be recognized at our April 10th meeting at A. L. Post 21.

On Sunday, April 8th, at 2:00 pm, the Chapter will be having a dedication of the new flagpoles at our Memorial in Jim Barnett park in conjunction with a wreath laying ceremony by the Winchester Arts Chorale. We hope that many of you will be present in Class A uniform or suitable attire.
